Daytona, Florida Facility

florida_building

The Daytona/Volusia N-Viro facility began as a lime sterilization facility operated by Volusia County to process the City of Daytona Beach's sludge production. Processing problems, product distribution problems and higher than anticipated costs for lime sterilization forced the City of Daytona Beach to issue a RFP (Request for Proposals) for an alternative Class AA process. (Class AA is a State of Florida designation similar to the federal 503 Exceptional Quality standards.) And "RFP" is in essence the way municipalities and large corporations put a project up for bid and routinely results in bids and aggressive competition, from the industries leading participants.

Florida N-Viro (FLNV) was awarded the contract by offering a unique approach to convert the existing lime sterilization facility operated by the County into a bona fide N-Viro Facility. In doing so, FLNV reduced the costs to Daytona Beach for processing their biosolids. Therefore, the City has gone from subsidizing this operation to receiving revenue through its host community standing.
